2020 PANDEMIC CHANGES
Some people, like Brittney Hope, cut their bangs during the Covid pandemic, while others, like Marcelino, start a business. 2020 was a time and opportunity to pause and observe. In that stillness, began a vision of how to better serve the community beyond the limits of a day job. One that would, unknowingly and unregrettably turn into (our 24/7 job)- CHC & Family Developments.
FLIP OR FLOP
With family members bringing the CHC vision to life, we began breaking down walls (literally). *Cue the disaster of dust in the ladies' hair* We began giving Columbus homes some love, sprinkling a magical touch of beautiful design with each flip. Yet, we noticed a pattern of contractor setbacks. *Ouch* After delving into a well known dilemma of "bad contractors," we saw the need for two worlds to collide: sincerity and reliable craftsmanship.
STRONG VALUES FOR BETTER EFFICIENCY
We set out to establish our own licensing and it changed the game. We brought our designs into the homes of people spanning from Columbus to Washington D.C to New York! We developed strong relationships with clients through our wonderful process and guidance. Because we operate at a high standard that continues to needle a thread through the community, we sow seeds of quality, ensurance, and joy.
Years later, we still highlight the key take away from our 2020 spark; stillness.

For Brittney and Marcelino, creating homes for the community—together as a family—is the most rewarding part of this work. As a homeschooling household, their children are immersed in the everyday rhythms of running a family-owned business. From tagging along to job sites to launching mini-businesses of their own (yes, with real earnings!), learning happens organically through life and play.
Originally from New Jersey, Brittney and Marcelino made the move to Ohio after a spontaneous weekend trip to visit family in Columbus. Seven years, three home births, and countless renovations later, they’ve built not just homes—but a life full of purpose, lessons, and growth.
What began as a practical business has become a calling. With each project, they express deep gratitude for the trust of their clients and the opportunity to help bring their visions to life. Designing and building homes isn’t just their work—it’s part of their family’s legacy.
